Tails of Equestria?

Yep! Tails of Equestria is a storytelling / roleplaying game (RPG) with dice rolls and character building (think Dungeons and Dragons) set in the land of Equestria and simplified to be easy enough for RPG newbies and kids to keep up with while also including elements that more seasoned players can appreciate. Tails was created by River Horse Games and released in 2017. While they still have some books available on their website, some of the books are no longer available in physical form, and PDF copies are no longer available for download from DriveThruRPG as of May 2024. This webpage is an attempt to provide some of the information from the rules in a way that makes searching for and finding information much quicker for mid-game lookups, while also throwing in a few changes and advancements for making the game more interesting for players and gamemasters alike.

Books

If you're a player, don't worry! You don't need any books to get started! Check out the character creator to get your adventure started, and the rules page if you don't want to bother your GM too much.

GM: Every game needs a dedicated game master (GM) to actually run the game. While you can, in theory, run the game while also playing in it, since the GM has access to information that players don't have access to, you can accidentally ruin some of the fun for the other players. Instead, you can play as the various NPC characters that the players can encounter along the way!
As a GM, you don't technically need any of the books to play the game, the information in the rules and resources pages here should be enough to give you enough information to make your own adventure! However, having the books can make getting started as a GM much easier and give you a feeling for how a prepared game runs. If you can find them, these are the official campaign books:
